Volunteer Trainee Assessor Fiona: the opportunities and challenges

In Volunteers’ Week Jane Sheils meets Trainee Assessor Fiona.

Fiona trainee assessor
Fiona: keen to use time constructively.

Fiona is a recent recruit, having joined as a trainee assessor in February this year. She is a qualified accountant with over 30 years’ experience working in the public sector.

Having retired recently, Fiona wanted to use her free time constructively. She believed Citizens Advice was an exceptional charity helping the Epsom and Ewell community and was keen to be part of it.

Inclusive

Fiona recognised the inclusive ethos at CAEE. As a volunteer trainee assessor she felt she fitted in from day one.

Volunteers Week

Each day is different and there is always something to do. With a new problem to face it’s sometimes difficult to feel confident about all aspects of the service. However, the training is comprehensive and there’s always someone on hand to help.

If you want to know more about volunteering at CAEE, these posts cover what you will gain, questions you may have and more experiences from others.

Jane Sheils is Volunteer Publicity Adviser at Citizens Advice Epsom & Ewell.
