Volunteers’ Week 2025 – could you join our amazing team?
For Volunteers’ Week 2025 Jane Sheils, our volunteer communications team leader, asked six CAEE volunteers why they got involved.

This Volunteers’ Week (2-8 June) is a celebration of volunteering across the UK. It’s a great a chance to recognise and thank an incredible volunteer force for their massive local contribution. Their generous donation of time and talents benefits local communities, the voluntary sector and the whole of society.
We are taking the opportunity of Volunteers Week 2025 to highlight six of our volunteers. They are all committed local people but with quite different skills, backgrounds and routes into Citizens Advice. This is just as it should be because we are here for everyone, whoever they are, whatever their problem.
Skills and rewards

Vicki and Sue both mention the skills they built up in their work. Barnaby talks about the value of knowing you’re making an impact. Jane and Pippa emphasise the importance and rewards of helping people who may have no other way forward. Elizabeth wanted to highlight the different nationalities and remarkable range of issues she encountered in a recent, very satisfying day in the life.
Read their stories here from Monday in Volunteers’ Week 2025 (2-8 June).
I am often asked about the kind of people who enjoy volunteering at Citizens Advice and continue in the service for many years. What they perhaps don’t realise is there are many opportunities in a small local charity and our volunteers do many different things.
They may be advisers, trustees, assessors, supervisors or receptionists. Some provide efficient admin support or be digital, tech or communications experts. They could be fundraisers, researchers or campaigners!
Computer skills are valuable in many roles and you need to be comfortable talking on the phone. Otherwise a desire to help others and a friendly approach are paramount. Could you help?
If our colleague stories for Volunteers’ Week 2025 inspire you, find out more and make contact today. We look forward to hearing from you.
