Volunteer Trustee

Do you want to help change things for the better in your local community?

We are looking for new trustees to work at Citizens Advice Epsom & Ewell. We provide free, confidential and impartial advice on issues affecting people’s day-to-day lives. We are a local charity supported by local volunteers to help local people in need.

The role

Trustees are volunteers who use their skills, knowledge and experience to help guide and govern our service, shape strategy and give direction to the organisation. You would be expected to attend quarterly meetings of the Trustee Board and get involved in other ways such as overseeing management of the budget, reviewing our HR policies and working with staff and volunteers on projects such as publicity and fundraising, research and campaigning, and volunteer recruitment.

What are we looking for?

No specific qualifications are required for the trustee role. We welcome people of all ages, backgrounds and experience who are passionate about helping local people in need. We value fresh ideas, alternative perspectives and different life experience. Strong candidates will have good communications skills and sound judgement.

Our regular meetings are held in Epsom during the daytime although some are hybrid meetings which allow attendance online. Your time commitment will be about 8 hours per month.

What difference will you make?

As one of our trustees your contribution will help to ensure that the charity is run and governed effectively and that it’s well equipped to provide advice and information to our clients. You will also make a real difference and help our society become a fairer, more equal place.

What’s in it for you?

Working together, our trustees are responsible for guiding and governing the organisation, ensuring that it’s doing what it was set up to do, complying with the law and using funds responsibly. Being a trustee is an important role but you won’t be alone in carrying it out; you’ll join a friendly and professional team comprising a small number of paid staff and around 60 volunteers who give up their time to help their local community.

Before you apply

If you are interested in joining our Trustee Board  and would like to have a chat with our Chair, you can express your interest online and we will get back to you by phone or email.
