Support Us

We’ve been providing our service for so long, 80 years since 1939, that many people don’t realise that we’re a local charity.  We are wholly dependent on local funding and donations to keep going.

We don’t receive any national Government funding at all – we’re completely independent of Government (even though we have our own road direction signs). We are always in need of donations to help pay for things like postage, stationery and telephone charges (we write a lot of letters and make many calls on behalf of our clients).

All this means that every year we have to raise a minimum of £15,000 to keep running. There are lots of easy ways to support us, whether you are an individual, a business or another organisation.

Every year we receive about £5,000 in donations – some from grateful clients, some from generous supporters. These are deeply welcomed. If you are a tax payer, please consider Gift Aiding your donation (this increases it by 25% at no cost to you as HMRC makes a tax donation on your behalf). You can donate (with Gift Aid) easily online via our Paypal Giving page or our GoldenGiving site.

There are lots of quick and easy ways to donate directly whether online, by mobile phone, or in the traditional ways by cheque or cash. There are also ways to support us with indirect donations.
